Parent/Guardian Focus Group with Anima Leadership
Welcome to the Anima Leadership Focus Group application page. You are invited to participate in a focus group as part of the audit about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at Branksome Hall. Our purpose in asking you to join us for a conversation is to help Branksome Hall understand the student experience and the ways in which it can be made more diverse, equitable and inclusive.
This study is being conducted by Anima Leadership on behalf of Branksome Hall. Selected participants will attend an online focus group session with facilitators from Anima Leadership which take approximately 90-120 minutes.
You have two options to choose from:
- Black Community Focus Group (for parent/guardians and/or parent/guardians of students who identify as being of Black descent including Bi-racial and Multi-racial individuals) – November 23rd, 6pm
- Open to all Focus Group (for any parent/guardian who wishes to speak about their experiences of inclusion) – December 8, 6pm
The Black-only focus group invites Black-identifying families to come together and speak specifically to their experiences of Anti-Black racism at Branksome Hall and how they impact the student experience. The Open to all invites families who may identify in other ways (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, disabilities, etc.) to share their experience and views with Anima Leadership.
Please note that there are limited spots for participation and to ensure richness of conversation we are keeping participant numbers per group between 8-12 parents/guardians. We require a minimum of three participants in order for the group to run and encourage all those interested to complete the form. In the event that we have low attendance the day of the focus group, we will invite participants to participate in shorter interviews to ensure we capture their voices.
The focus group sessions will be audio recorded only for the purpose of ensuring we are precise in the information we collect. The recordings will not be shared with anybody outside the research team at Anima Leadership. The recordings will only be used for the purposes of creating data summaries and will be deleted once the project is complete in Spring 2022. Our priority is to ensure that no identifying information will be included in the report. See the consent form to learn more about how your identity and the information you share is protected.
If you have questions about the confidentiality or the audit process, please contact James Beaton, Director of Research and Special Projects at Anima Leadership at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
