Anima Leadership

Authentic Leadership Series

This series offers one-day skill intensives based on Anima Leadership's trademark process.

Authentic Facilitation I:

Learning to Facilitate with Presence and Ease

We believe effective facilitation is all about finding your own unique style and being yourself in front of a group, thereby encouraging others to authentically bring forward all of what they have to offer. At its core, it is about being deeply present. Each group, each situation calls for something different and the best facilitators know how to listen for, and serve this emerging truth.

Great for new facilitators, and those looking to brush up their skills! Topics explored include being present, directing group energy, handling differences and conflict, and how to let the process unfold without controlling it. Group learning styles and process theory, emotional intelligence research and mindfulness techniques are also covered. As well, lots of practical techniques and tips to make the job of facilitation easy. This is a fantastic primer on ways to serve group intelligence more intelligently!

Authentic Facilitation II:

Learning to Sit in the Fire of Conflict

Building on Authentic Facilitation I, this program addresses what to do when differences emerge in groups. Many of us tend to contract, to take one side over another, to want to control or direct group response when this happens. How do we stay open to the transformational learning possible in times of conflict?

This two-day primer on facilitating group differences, offers a framework and different techniques and tools for what to do when things get rocky. We will look more deeply at the levels of awareness required for facilitating effectively in these situations: on a cognitive level being aware of various viewpoints on an issue and also differences in power, privilege and rank in a group; on an emotional level being able to track what people are feeling and needing; and on a spiritual level being able to sense what the emerging truth is that will allow for transformation and growth. Allowing group intelligence to emerge depends on our ability as facilitators to sit in the fire of conflict.

Authentic Management I:

Foundational Leadership Skills for New Managers

Often we get promoted to management positions without a lot of training or support for different aspects of the role. This one-day session is for new managers as well as for those with experience who wish to brush up on certain parts of the job. Drawing from the realms of neuroscience, psychology and organizational development, we’ll be exploring the heart of what it means to work effectively with others in leadership role:

  • who you are in the management role: what strengths and blindspots do you have?
  • what does authentic and clear communication look like in practice?
  • how do you build a cohesive team across differences?
  • how do you effectively address conflict in a way that strengthens relationships?
  • how can you build support for yourself when you have responsibility for others?

This session is a synthesis of the Anima Leadership Development process™, offered in different contexts both nationally and internationally. Invest in brushing up on your management skills and treat yourself to this one-day intensive!

Authentic Management II:

Constructively Dealing with Difficult People and Conflict Situations

Difficult people within organizations can result in co-workers shutting down, endless cycles of conflict, lost productivity as well as significant emotional drain for all involved. Managers within organizations are responsible for setting the tone for dealing effectively with conflict. If harnessed properly, there is a power in conflict situations to transform and deepen relationships, increasing feelings of team, trust and inclusion. Although conflict-free workplaces are unrealistic, this one-day training will help organizational leaders establish a solid base of understanding for creating conflict-effective teams and environments.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will:

  • explore the importance of emotional intelligence in de-escalating and transforming inter-personal conflict in workplaces;
  • develop knowledge and skills in creating inclusive environments where feedback and communication are the integrated components of teams and projects;
  • understand and practice the skills needed to deal with difficult people;
  • uncover the strengths and weaknesses on their approach to dealing with conflict.

This session is a synthesis of the Anima Leadership Development Process™, and builds upon the learnings established in Authentic Management I: Foundational Leadership Skills for New Managers. Both professional development opportunities are important steps towards becoming a Manager of Choice within organizations.
